Transcript of You Don’t Have to Be Strong – Let God Be Strong for You | Morning Prayer
Video Transcript:
Before we lift our voices in prayer, let's dwell on the promises of God. We have been taught from a very young age that strength is very good. And to be more specific, our strength. So, we go through life pushing through life in our strength thinking it's okay and not getting the results we want. We may win at a few things, but we all know that is not the whole story. Life throws much more than we can handle a lot of the time, leaving us with no answers and practically powerless to change anything. But we keep on trying to power through life because it's what we have been taught to do. The worries of life can be burdensome when we rely on our own strength. So, how do we persevere through hardships without breaking down? The key is to rely on God's strength. The Lord is my strength and my shield. In him my heart trusts and I am helped. My heart exalts and with my song I give thanks to him. The Lord is the strength of his people. He is the saving refuge of his anointed. Psalm 28 7 to8 We need to learn to rely on God's strength. We need to learn to surrender to him and let him fight our battles. God is not impressed with our show of strength. Just because we have been taught that people are impressed by how strong we are doesn't mean that God is the same. God is not man. He is God, the creator of the universe. Our greatest strength means nothing without God. We need to see and understand that it's not by our power, but it's by his power that our situation will be changed. We could give our all and best, but it would mean nothing without God. We are taking on battles that we were never meant to take on. You shall not fear them, for it is the Lord your God who fights for you. Deuteronomy 3:22. God is not asking you to fight your battles. He's only asking you to be still and trust that he's got this. You know you are leaning on your own strength when you find yourself exhausted and worn out. God never intended you to live this way. He wants you to enjoy his presence and not live this way. He wants you to enjoy his presence and not live in anxiousness no matter what you face. Stop trying to impress him with your strength. Instead, let him be strong for you. Allow him to fight your battles. He wants to. But what does it really mean to rely on God's strength? It means taking your hands off your situation and giving it to God. In the book of Philippians, we read, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:es 6 to7. God isn't asking you to fix all your problems but in every situation to bring it to him in prayer and petition with thanksgiving. When you learn to give your worries to God, his peace will guard your heart and mind. No situation can cause you to be anxious when you bring your situation to God. In Judges 6, we see Gideon winning his battles because of God's strength and not his. When the angel of the Lord came to Gideon and called him a mighty man of valor and sent him to save his people, he replied, and he said to him, "Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manessa, and I am the least in my father's house. And the Lord said to him, but I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man. Judges 6 15-16. God assured Gideon's victory by his presence. He promised Gideon that he would be with him. Just as God's presence was the assurance that Gideon needed to win the battle, God is also the only assurance that you need to fight your battles, God never asks us to carry our own burdens and fight our own battles in our own strength. He asks us to give our burdens to him. Cast your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you. He will never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22. When we give our burdens to God, he will sustain us through any and every storm. There is nothing too difficult for us to overcome when we know that God is always in control. Just because things are out of control does not mean it's out of God's control. If God is in control, what do we need to be afraid of? God wants us to enjoy the journey. He wants us to go through life with joy and laughter, no matter how bad our situation may be. Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might, he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted. But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40 28-31. [Music] I love this scripture. It's a reminder for you that God alone is the source of your strength. In good times or in difficult times when you feel on top of the world or when you feel low, never forget that he alone is your strength. You don't have to keep on relying on your own strength. Instead, give up your strength for his. Let him be strong for you in every situation you face. Call on him when you are weak and he will fight on your behalf because he is your strength. Now let's pray. Heavenly Father, I come before you today with an open heart, tired, weary, and humbled. I confess, Lord, that far too often I've tried to walk this life in my own strength. I've fought battles you never asked me to fight. I've carried burdens that were never mine to bear. I've strived, pushed, and pressed forward, believing that I had to be strong to survive, to win, to be accepted even by you. But now I see the truth. I was never meant to carry the weight of life alone. Lord, your word says that you are my strength and my shield. You are the one who lifts me up when I fall. You are the one who fights for me when I am surrounded. You are the one who gives peace when my soul is in chaos. And so today I surrender. I lay down my pride. I lay down my self-reliance. I lay down the pressure to appear strong. And I choose to rest in you. You are the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. You do not grow weary. You do not faint. You are unshakable, unchangeable, and your power is limitless. So I come to you faint and weary, knowing that you will renew my strength. I wait for you, Lord, not passively, but expectantly, knowing that as I do, I will rise on wings like eagles. I will run and not grow weary. I will walk and not faint. Father, help me to trust you when everything feels out of control. Remind me that even when my world feels unstable, you remain seated on the throne. Nothing surprises you. Nothing overwhelms you. Nothing is too hard for you. So I cast all my anxiety on you right now. For you care deeply for me. Lord, I ask that you would teach me to walk in your strength daily, not just in crisis, but in every moment. Let me not wait until I've exhausted all options before turning to you. Instead, may I begin each day by surrendering my plans, my fears, my hopes, and my expectations to you. Teach me to lean not on my own understanding, but to acknowledge you in all my ways, trusting that you will make my paths straight. Forgive me, Lord, for the times I've tried to impress you or others with a strength that was never real. Forgive me for the times I've doubted your ability to carry me through. Thank you for your endless patience, for your grace that meets me in weakness, and for your love that never gives up on me. I thank you, Father, for the gift of your presence. Like you were with Gideon, be with me. Reassure me that you are near. Even when I feel small, weak, or unqualified, remind me that it's not about who I am, it's about who you are. And you are mighty. You are faithful. You are for me. Help me to lay my burdens at your feet and leave them there, not picking them back up in fear or doubt. Help me to find joy in the journey even when the path is difficult. Let laughter and peace overflow from a heart that knows its refuge is in you. Thank you for being my strength when I have none. Thank you for fighting for me. Thank you for sustaining me through every storm, every trial, every anxious moment. I trust you, Lord. I surrender it all. Be strong for me in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen. [Music] Thank you for joining me in this powerful prayer today. If this prayer touched your heart, type amen in the comments as a sign of faith and agreement.
